Many years ago, there was a young man who searched for truth, happiness, joy, and the right way of living. He heard about a famous Zen Master. He went to him, threw himself at his feet, and said: “Please, Master, be my teacher.” The master accepted his request. The disciple went with the master everywhere he went. The master never directly speak with his disciple. After three years the disciple was frustrated and dissapointed.
He asked the master, “I have been so faithful to you. I followed you everywhere. Why haven’t you taught me anything?”. The master asked him, “haven’t I been teaching you all this time?
“Don’t you understand that I have been teaching you during every moment you have been with me? When you bring me a cup of tea, don’t I drink it? When you bow to me, don’t I bow to you? When you clean my desk, don’t I say: ‘Thank you very much’?”
Like this young man, we all miss what we see and experience. To grow spiritually closer to God, we all need to train ourselves to be silent and reflect on our experiences. You may download the file, answer some questions and get a starting point of where you stand.
